Erickson Power Plant Trip
Get City took a trip to the Erickson Power Station, a coal plant operated by the Lansing Board of Water & Light (LBWL).
Lansing Community College Field Trip
GET City took a trip to Lansing Community College (LCC) and visited Sean Huberty, a professor in the Alternative Energy Program Technology Program. They learned about LCC’s “off the grid house” that they designed and plan to build in Northern Michigan.
“Show Green” Competition Winners!
On Saturday, Get City veterans Jasmine Boyd, Camryn Turner, Chantalice Hicks, Jayla Dunlap and Jessalyn Embry walked away with awards for their entries in the Energy Works Michigan “Show Green” Student Film Challenge.
What we learned from solar and wind experiments
Today the GET city group participated in demonstrations of solar and wind technology. These demonstrations showed the students how natural resources can produce energy without using fossil fuels.
