GET City youth presented their socially just businesses today at the LEAP event in Lansing for area entrepreneurs. All five teams represented extraordinarily well. Their work is what makes a difference in this world. As one of the youth, Z stated, “It’s not about making money. It’s about doing what is right. Doing what is good. We want to help people. We think when others learn about our projects they will also be able to help people, too.” Z’s comments capture the social justice business approach shared by the youth. Groups included:
GET City 4 Real You Tube Station: A for us by us you tube channel that teachers others how to make with green energy.
The Green Greenhouse: A solar powered greenhouse to produce healthy snacks for the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing.
The Little Free STEM Library: A library of STEM books and mini maker kits helping all kids in their community (especially in the library desert part of town) have access to books and materials.
The Donator: A smart phone app with information about homelessness, how to help the homeless, and where/how to donate.
The Dog Designer Rescue Kit for stray dogs in case you come across one while you’re walking down the street or while your family is driving on the roads. The rescue kit is stylish and functional! It will help us help animals.
